Monday Musings Ed-vise today! Let’s GET-IT-ON!!!
I was in Afghanistan for a couple years. As a contractor. Back in 2013 to 2015. Stayed in Bagram the whole time. Didn’t really get a chance to go out and meet the locals but met many of the locals and have a few that I call “friends.”
US is leaving. Just like that. We are out. Trillions of dollars and thousands of lives lost and we are out! And…The TALIBAN are rolling heavy as they can to take back what they lost.
The Economist this morning has several articles about how the US lost the war.
People need to get something straight: ‘Merica DOES NOT LOSE WARS.
Nope. We Don’t. Sounds patriotic and stuff but, in the end, we don’t.
“How can I make that claim” you ask. It’s easy. I just typed it. You can make do the same.
But seriously. In order to make that statement, it must be understood that “War” is about trading bodies for real estate. It is about death and destruction. It is about ending a society (or preserving it). And ‘Merica is SUPER GOOD at that!
We did that in Afghanistan post 9-11. Did it in Iraq, Vietnam, Korea. Name the war and we did it. We brought death and destruction and traded far fewer bodies for WAY more real estate than our supposed “enemies” did. Cuz THAT’s HOW WE ROLL!
Our problem is a thinking that everyone we conquer wants to be like us. And they usually don’t.
I’m just saying
