Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So get after it!
Spent time reflecting on a conversation I had with a friend Friday Night.
We spent time talking about our kids and what they were up to. As always, such conversation go directly to whether or not the children are employed. My friend’s son and mine were both the focus of conversation.
Now, my son started a job with NAPA at around 15. Basically kicked in the door and said “I want to work.” The boss said ‘You’re hired.” Simple as that.
My friend and her family were having breakfast at their favorite restaurant. Server walked up and asked her son, “what are you doing these days?” Son said “not much.” Server responded “do you want a job?” He said “I don’t have experience.” She said “can you wash dishes?” Next thing he knows, he’s hired. Just like that.
My son decides he wants to move to Texas. Make a phone call to the NAPA franchise in Abilene and says “Can I have a job?” They say “Come on down!” Just like that.
My friend’s son. He decides he wants to work at a fish market (because he loves fish). Walks in, identifies the fish, BAM…hired.
It reminds me of Forrest Gump. Where Forrest just wanders the land and by happenstance, ends up with a life like a box of chocolates. Meanwhile, folks like my friend and myself, we end up having to get waterboarded and endure a Spanish Inquisition after writing up a PhD dissertation on “Why We are the Best Candidate For the Job.” Those kids just walk up and “Go to the White House…Again” and “meet with the President of the United States…Again.” Hate to sound like an old man but YOU KIDS HAVE NO IDEA HOW GOOD YOU HAVE IT!

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember eating a clock is very…TIME CONSUMING!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
