Ed-vise Episode 217

An American Horror Story is back GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup! It’s back! Say what you want about the show itself…it has THE BEST opening!

Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to think a bit

Say what you want about the Afghanistan fiasco. You cannot deny the efficiency that the Taliban used when rolling through.

Very few battlefield casualties on either side. Limited amount of infrastructure destruction. Buildings not blown all over the place from missile strikes and shootouts. I mean they rolled in and it was done. Fast, efficient. Captured a treasure trove of stuff.

There is another country that did that. Know who? Good ol’ ‘Merica! We did it in Iraq. Basically we rolled in and the Iraqi army went home.

I remember flying over Iraq in a helicopter on various missions. From the air you could see the equipment and fighting positions that were dug in place. Military hardware everywhere. Security assessments showed that Iraq had a huge stockpile of weapons and ammo along with personnel that could fight. In fact, the bulk of the Iraqi military were trained veterans as they had been fighting with Iran for a couple decades.

In a nutshell, they had the ability to really draw out some ‘Merican blood if they wanted to. Had they stood their ground, they would have laid out some hurt. I doubt they could have sustained a full on war for as long as we could. But, they would have let us know they were no joke.

However, once we started rolling, fighting was extremely minimal. Some footage on CNN and MSNBC, Fox, showed night flights and “Baghdad Bob” (Saddam’s PR man) giving accounts and showing bullets flying. But, casualties on both side were relatively few. Why? The Iraq Army did somewhat what Afghanitan’s Army did: they went home. Didn’t show up for work.

A lot of behind the scenes work was done. Deals cut with Iraq commanders and troops to not resist. Promises and payoffs. That kept the body count and property damage to a minimum.

So, Think About It. We provided good training. It was just that maybe, the people we didn’t want to get that training…paid attention and used it.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember that the CDC recommends…INSIDE JOKES!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA…NOT DOING IT!

Peace
