A restful GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, had some great sleep last night. Heading off to dreamland I had those instances where you kind of dream but not quite asleep. Kind of like a hallucination. It was very cool and at times a bit creepy.
Talkin Tuesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s TUESDAY…TUESDAY PEOPLE!
Oh…my…god. I…cannot…believe…it. The…horror…of…it…all. (Sarcasm emphasized).
The Pandora Papers are out! Jump up and shout “OH MY GOD!” (Sarcasm emphasized).
For those who do not know, Pandora is a Greek tale about, well, Pandora. She has a box that she is not supposed to open but she does. Out of it comes the demons of Strife, and Chaos; Murder and Death; Pain and Suffering to torment all of mankind. And out of the bottom comes the small angel of Hope. So, the analogy is along the lines of the Pandora Box has been opened etc., etc., etc.
The Pandora Papers were a compilation of the work of 600 journalists around the globe. All members of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists. They found out that really rich people put their money into tax havens around the globe. Oh…My…god. Rich people use tax havens. Stop the world I want get off.
Draw in close and I will tell you a secret. Ready? THE IDEA OF RICH PEOPLE USING TAX HAVENS IS NOTHING NEW. They’ve been doing it for as long as there have been tax laws. In fact, the US tax code has tax “havens” built into it. They are called Write Offs. But we are ‘Merica so it don’t count. South Dakota is huge on tax haven stuff. Again, part of ‘Merica so it don’t count.
Bottom line on the Pandora Papers: who cares? Nothing going to change because these type papers have come out two other times. Nothing changed. And, we already know rich people use tax havens…big deal!
But, here’s the big deal: THERE IS AN ORGANIZATION OF 600 JOURNALISTS DOING THIS TYPE OF STUFF! Did you know that? I sure didn’t.
600 people pulling sources and wire taps and bank transactions etc., and none can figure out who killed JFK? 600 people couldn’t see the fall of Afghanistan? 600 people couldn’t tell us all the crap going on with biased federal judges? 600 people can’t tell us where COVID came from or where all the misinformation comes from? Hmmm.
Maybe if they put their efforts to something more relevant, we all might care about the Pandora Papers.
