A Happy Thanksgiving GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, turkey day today. Me and my clan is out here in Seaside. Sis-in-law sick, Newbie coughing her lungs out. But my niece made it up from San Jose in a surprise to the unknowing. So, not all bad.
Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to think.
I’ll make some controversy for you and your Pseudo-Conservative kin folk that come to Turkey Day and want to talk about the 2nd Amendment and the military that protects Good Ol’ ’Merica. That way Turkey Day ALWAYS has some memories.
I realized something on the drive over while listening to My Favorite Murder episode 300.
You know who your 2A folks are. The ones who proudly where their tacti-cool gear and guns for media days. Overweight, not much of an athlete. Need a gun probably because they have no chance in a physical fight. Well, what I realized is that these people are the same people that advocate for heavy military spending. In addition to strongly supporting a bigger military.
”Ain’t nobody gonna take my guns” they profess loudly to anyone that will listen. Relying heavily on the historically wrong Supreme Court decision handed down by the late Justice Scalia in Columbia v. Heller.
Well, what I realized was that the 2A/ NRA supporters are actually feeding the beast that fuels their fear.
I know, I hear the WHAT! already. So, here we go!
See, when you ask 2A people about why they need a gun, the fall back on the academic response of ”I need my gun to protect my freedom.”
That freedom will be taken by the government. NOT BY UNARMED CITIZENS. In order for the government to do this, the government will need someway to disarm it’s citizens. And, that would be done by A WELL FUNDED MILITARY! If the president decides to take everyone’s guns, the president, by executive order will activate the beast which is extremely well funded and well equipped, and TAKE ALL THE GUNS.
So, for you 2A types, advocate for universal health care or free college rather than excess military spending. Then, at least you have a shot (no pun intended) to protect your freedom from an overreaching government.
