Ed-vise Episode 289

A morning run GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, some good sleep followed by a short run. The good thing about getting zero sleep the night before is you sleep really good the next night!

What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAY!

Dad used to say ”those who fail to plan, plan to fail.” It wasn’t his quote but he liked to say it. It was actually Ben Franklin who coined that phrase. None the less, when you are growing up, all things your dad says are attributed to him no matter who said it. Same with moms.

For dad, his health has been on the decline ever since they shut down the gyms for the pandemic. When you are in your 70s, you MUST KEEP MOVING! Absolute MUST. Especially if you had injuries when you were younger. The scar tissue will start building and you will start stiffening up quickly. That’s free advise.

Anyway, for dad. He was really starting to get ”Stoved Up.” Dementia was setting in pre-pandemic. Well, in October he took a couple falls and in November, he took one and 911 had to get called. Then, things got really ugly. Couple of strokes and now, his speech is a bunch of mumbles. Very little memory and bed ridden.

It was that fast. First part of November he is having conversations. Then, mumbles. That fast.

Very little information provided to mom regarding going forward. She is blessed to have family to help.

What Would You Do? That’s the question for something like this.

I’ve witnessed the speed that a loved one can be taken from you entirely. I’ve witnessed the slow decline that can happen to a person. Do you have a plan to make it to the other side? Do you have a plan for a loved one? Two things are certain: Death and Taxes. Talk to an estate planner or financial planner. Talk to each other and come up with what to do. Don’t rely on Good Ol’ ’Merican Guberment or insurance. Once the insurance runs out, your life boat is gone.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember in the Christmas alphabet there is NO L! Get it!? NO L! HAHAHAHAHHAHA

Peace
