Ed-vise Episode 290

A rainy run GOOD MORNING!!! to you all. Yup, rainy here in So. Cal. So, an uphill run is wet. Which makes it slower than my normal “wicked fast” pace.

Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to Think About It!

OK, you know how I been writing about planning for the big life events. Letting people that you love know about the nitnoid things you do to keep things functioning in a normal world.

Having things like dad’s “Paper Brain.” Stuff like that.

Well, there are two parts to this plan thing. The second part is being a willing participant in the plan.

When dad took a turn for the worse, mom had no idea what to do other than get him help. Hospital, doctors, nurses, and then get him home. Her blind spot was in the day to day dealings with different entities like city utilities and phone and other bills.

I’ll share a little story with you. See, dad has been wrestling with dementia for a bit. Not exactly sure but I think it might have been sometime in 2019. Well, the phone bill came. Mom asked if it was paid. Dad said it was. After a month or so, the phone was turned off. Bill had not been paid.

About my mom. She really had no interest in the finances of the house for as long as I can remember. Dad took care of it. He never really shared it with mom. Why? Probably because mom NEVER CARED ABOUT IT! Never did. Probably wouldn’t have even paid attention to it if he had offered to show her where stuff was located. She gets a bit stubborn on stuff and will not budge. Now, it gets a bit worse due to depression and a lack of motivation to do much of anything.

You can come up with plans by yourself. Dad probably could have created a cheat sheet for mom or even put the bills on auto-pay. Many things could have been done by him. However, without mom actively participating in the plan or knowing the cheat sheet, well, it ends up left to my sister and I to figure out what was going on in that once brilliant mind of my dad.

Suck

I’m just saying. Actually, this one was inspired and thought of by my AWESOME and SEXY SPOUSAL SUPPORT UNIT!

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember Santa once had a regular job…he was fired for (snort, chuckle) CLAUS! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

Peace
