A wife punched me GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, punched me in the head while I was sleeping. As nice a guy as I am…WHAP!!! Just like that.
Think About it Thursday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s THURSDAY! Time to think.
Dad took a good turn last couple days. His brother came down from Oregon, found his hearing aids (dad’s) and put them in. Now, dad can hear somewhat which helped out the speech some.
Here’s the thinking I been doing lately.
Dad was in a rehab/ care facility when he was released “evicted” from the hospital. I say “evicted” because that’s what hospitals do. Get you out of near death and kick you down the road to a care facility. That way if you die, it’s not on their premises.
I’m researching more about these care facilities. One because they charge a HUGE amount of money for their facility. Then, they charge even more money for their ”services.”
See, you pay to stay there. Then, everything you need is an additional charge. Nurse, food, the equipment the care people need to do their job safely (like PPE). It is literally “Death by 1000 Cuts.” Everything is a charge! The epitome of capitalistic greed.
Medicare picks up a bunch of this. The rest is on you. Can’t afford it? “You ain’t stayin’ here!”
Now, like I said, dad was in one of these facilities. I see the compression sores on his backside. Mom told me at one point he had a bloody nose for some strange reason. When he came home, he was so sedated I swear they gave him a hit of morphine.
I can tell you this: we did not pay for the compression sores and we did not pay for a bloody nose. Those things came free of charge…apparently.
If you recall, Wednesday, I blogged about LTCI. When it comes to long term care, you definitely GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Based on the care I saw at a medium quality facility, I think there are only good and bad care facilities. And the owners of these facilities MAKE BANK! If you know me, you know I am researching how to correct a wrong.
