Ed-vise: Wyatt

A kick ass weekend GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, spent the weekend at the family farm. Catching up with family and hanging with cousins. Great time even if Newbie kept us awake ALL WEEKEND!

Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!

Like I said, I spent the weekend down in Douglas County with my family. It was some time since we last met up. The only bad thing about it is that there is only one of me and three cousins with separate homes and families. And I can only stay with one.

So, I opted to stay with my uncle at the Family Farm. Maybe next time I won’t get offered a blow up mattress to sleep on!

Once we arrived home, Sunday, I was able to meet up with an old friend from military days. He lives in Montana with his wife and three kids. Quite possibly the smartest person I know. Talk about a guy that “drinks and knows things!” He DEFINITELY “drinks and know things.” You know, I think that would be a GREAT club! The Drinks and Know Things club! Hmmm…

Anyway…

We waxed nostalgia for several hours and began to focus on the irony of the party we both are members of: Republican.

Now, many in the Republican group have a love of the old west. Probably comes from Ronald Reagan and his favorite author, Louis (pronounced LOO-E) L’amour.

Then, add to it the others such as Clint Eastwood, the different sheriffs, and, in particular, guns. Guns and the old west. The romance of the time with riding and shooting. Just like Jesse James or Wyatt Earp or any of the other legends of the west.

So, here’s the irony. Wyatt Earp along with town sheriffs and marshals were NOT supporters of the 2nd Amendment and gun rights. In fact, the legendary Gunfight at the OK Corral was all about the government (Wyatt Earp) attempting to SEIZE the guns that were in the rightful possession of the Clantons and Mclaurys.

See, back in the days of the Old West, many towns, if not all, had a sheriff. That person was charged with enforcing the laws of the town. Often times the laws revolved around preventing violence especially as it related to drinking which often led to shoot outs.

The best way to prevent shootings: take away peoples guns when they are in town. Usually the town would have a sign posted that said to check your fire arms in at the sheriff’s office or simply outright banned them.

Failure to comply would lead to a fine or being put to death by the sheriff who would shoot you. No trial, no police brutality (pre smart phone), and no “my 2nd Amendment” rights.

So, when your gun supporting friend approaches to show you their kid named “Wyatt” ask if the kid is named after the 2nd Amendment Violating Sheriff from Tucson. It might make their head explode!

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember the guy who was hit by an Omega 3 vitamin. He died from SUPER-FISH-OIL INJURIES! HAHAHAHAHAHA…

Peace
