I have to celebrate and give a pat on the back to Texas (god bless Texas) this morning.
Why?
Because the jury gave a verdict against that jackass blow-hard Alex Jones! He has been ordered to pay $4 million in compensatory damages. The jury is now determining how much he should pay in punitive damage. I hope it’s a bunch.
See Mr. Jones was the lead person who worked his whole show around spreading the lie that Sandy Hook NEVER HAPPENED. Because of his intentional, and I do mean INTENTIONAL, actions, the parents of the victims were forced to endure continuous harassment from his fans. Threats of violence along with calls and emails along the lines of celebrating the death of children.
The parent’s asked, time and again, that Mr. Jones STOP, the spread of his lies. And he kept doing it. Kept working his followers up to continue to harass and threaten these parents. Kept creating a hostile world for the grieving.
He hides behind the 1st Amendment. Free speech.
Yes, we do have a right to free speech. It is enshrined in our Constitution. Oh that blessed document. So amazing; So misinterpreted.
What is NOT enshrined is protection from the repercussions of our actions. And I am hoping that this jury in Texas will put Alex Jones and his network of lies called Infowars, out of business.
What tempers the celebration is that Jones will not change. Neither will many of his followers. Because his followers are rats and he is the Pied Piper leading them off a cliff to drown.
