A stormy night GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, storms blew through last night. Not at my place so much but you could hear the thunder and see the lightning. Bit of rain and a nice break from the heat.

Ever hear of him? Us Jitsu fanatics have. Actually, I hadn’t until recently so, you are forgiven.
Leandro was an 8 time World Champion Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter. To many he was a legend. Came out of the bad side of Rio and had to learn how to fight to survive. I am sure you have all heard similar stories of people. Many of them sad, but true.
This past weekend. He was out at the club with friends in Rio. Someone came up and started talking shit to him and his friends. Becoming confrontational.
So, What Would You Do? Your friend is being targeted because of their status in the “Fight Community.” Very common. Seems like these days, every time a celebrity fighter goes out in public, they get confronted by someone with a couple drinks in them that thinks they can be the next world champion.
If you are going out with such a person, pretty much ANY celebrity type person, it is a safe bet your group will end up between an attacker and the celebrity.
Well, unfortunately for Leandro, this attacker pulled out a gun and shot him in the head. And now, the Jitsu world mourns an 8 time world champion.
Why?
Because NOBODY in the group had a plan. Or, if they did, it was not trained and walked through nor was it a good one.
Should they have expected confrontation? I say ABSOLUTELY! Leandro was a celebrity in Rio. A big name and popular. Safe to say the public would act the same way in Rio as it would here in Good Ol ‘Murica.
Sad day for the Jitsu world. Still, a lesson to be learned and a scenario to walk through in your mind to ask What Would You Do?
