Ed-vise: In Shape

A bug bites GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, for whatever reason the “No-see-ums” in my parent’s back yard are having a FEAST on me! Little freakin bug out in the Southwest that came over from Florida. Just SUCKS ASS! Little BASTARD!

Monday Musings Ed-vise today. Cause it’s MONDAY! So GET AFTER IT!

I am observing the downside of being “In Shape.”

Pops, up until COVID, was an avid racquetball player. Furthermore, he also ran. Had a history of running. He’d run himself to exhaustion. He’d do that when I pissed him off growing up, usually.

I remember growing up, we’d go to the family farm. Dad would work sun up to sun down. The man had no stopping in him. Grind and grind. Just like his dad. Pushing the body to it’s limits. Muscle cramps (due to heat exhaustion) earned a shot of lemon juice. Everything else earned a soak in Epsom Salts or silver. His easiest days were in Vietnam (no, they won’t make a movie about him).

Thing is his body has been conditioned for stress. Which is what happens when you exercise and work that hard. You stress the body. When you do that stuff over a lifetime, it takes a “minute” or two to wind down and call it a day.

Which is where we are at now. Watching and waiting while he “winds down” from a hard day’s work. Nurse this weekend said “soon.” He’s starting to show signs to corroborate that statement. He knows it’s soon and, at the times when he opens his eyes and recognizes me, he seems OK with it.

On a lighter note…I found a couple of his report cards from his elementary school days. Seems that Pops had a bit of trouble talking to his neighbors when he wasn’t supposed to. The EXACT SAME THING that would send him on an exhausting run before laying into me about talking in class when I wasn’t supposed to! Hmmm

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember Australians hate meringue so much they…BOO-MERINGUE! HAHAHAHAHAHHA…G’day mate!
