Ed-vise: Colorado

A mom forgot her coat GOOD MORNING!!! to you all! Yup, starting the Turkey Weekend with mom forgetting her coat. Rain and cold when I picked her up. Just goes to show what long term sun exposure does to a person: they forget their coat!

What Would You Do Wednesday Ed-vise today. Cause it’s WEDNESDAY! And I do love WEDNESDAYS!

If you’ve been accessing the internet you know the scenario coming that asks What Would You Do.

You are out with your family at a bar and grill and a person comes in with a long rifle. They start shooting. People start dropping left and right. What Would You Do?

This past weekend a veteran reacted and took down the active shooter in Colorado Springs. Retired Army Major Richard Fierro reacted. He and his family were at this particular bar and grill to watch his daughter’s friend perform. When the shooting started he reacted. Took down the shooter from behind and began to beat that dude like a punching bag!

Along comes Navy vet Thomas James to help. Also reacting. Kicks the AR out of the reach of the shooter (YES, another AR shooter) and delivers a hard STOMP to the shooter head!

That’s called “putting the boots to ’em!”

Oh…wait…did I mention it was a drag show? That the STOMP was done in heels? Just for a little extra “POP!”

SHOUT OUT to the two of them and a beer or two on me if they come my way. Job well done.

Here’s the thing folks. An AR length rifle is NOT concealable. Meaning you cannot hide it. If you are at such a place and you spot someone approaching with such a weapon it means one thing: BAD THING ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!

You MUST react. If nothing else, call out the weapon. You know what it looks like because they are shown all the time on TV. The one issue though might have to do with the very real possibility that NOBODY would know what to think if you yelled out “GUN.”

Everyone would very likely turn and look if you yelled out “WHAT’S THAT?”

Basically, if you see something say something. It is super hard to hide an AR. The rifle in Colorado was probably seen in the parking lot or at the front door. It’s just that people didn’t know what to do when they saw it.

Take the time. Run through a scenario in your mind of what it would look like and what you would do. It will save lives. Starting with your own.

I’m just saying

That’s it for today. Take care of yourselves. Check in on each other and remember dinosaurs shower because they…EX-STINK!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Peace
