I been seeing lots of posts regarding the work situation down in Florida. Recently the Governor took some time out of his fight with Disney and signed a bill into law. The bill makes it a crime for employers to employ unauthorized alien
An unauthorized alien is defined in the bill as however the feds define an unauthorized alien. Fair enough.
Governor Ronny did this due to the alleged crisis on the Southern Border. Of which FLORIDA is NOT on the Southern Border.
It is met with a lot of back and forth on the whole racism and woke and all the other culture war type names and acronyms.
Here’s the thing folks: IT IS ALREADY ILLEGAL TO HIRE UNAUTHORIZED ALIENS!
Always has been.
There’s this cool little form that everyone fills out when they get hired by a company. It’s called an I-9.
The I-9 has three columns on it for identification purposes. For most of us, it asks for your social security card and a driver’s license. A passport will do or some other form to verify you have the legally established privilege of working in Good Ol’ ‘Murica.
It is a felony to lie on that thing. ICE sometimes does raids on big processing plants and ag establishments to check I-9s. Many times they end up shutting down a business and imposing significant fines on a company for violating the rules about the I-9.
Florida and Governor Ronny passed a law which says that violating federal laws about hiring is a crime. Well, NO SHIT!
Another example of making getting the Dull Eyed Mouth Breathers worked up over something that is already being taken care of!
